• Due to modular construction easily to extend

Adminarea

• On the startpage you can find all important information

Security

• The board uses a Captcha-image at every critical place to prevent bots filling in forms automaticly
• You can ban IP-addresses, usernames and email-addresses
• Optionally you can configure that every user can just make a appointed number of login-failures until he/she has to enter a security-code via a Captcha-image
• You can configure if and how the browser and ip-address will be checked
• The board can be completely locked for guests

Portal

• The board has a portal in which the most important news will be displayed
• You can specify one or more news-forums of which the topics including the first post will be displayed in the portal
• You can see the current topics in the portal
• You can see who is online, who has birthday today, which events will be in the next few days and so on
• Of course you can also disable the portal, if you don't want to use it

Forums

• There are 2 types of forums: Categories which can exclusivly contain forums and forums which can contain topics and forums
• The forums can be nested arbitrary
• You can create forums to which just selected members and/or usergroups have access
• It is possible to set which usergroups can perform which actions in a forum
• The sort of the forums can be adjusted
• You can add as many moderators as you like to each forum. The moderators have special rights in this forum.

Moderators

• Moderators can help the administrators to control the board
• They can edit, move, close, open and delete topics and edit, move and delete posts
• You can configure the rights of the moderators in the adminarea

Topics

• It is possible to create "normal" topics, polls and events
• Topics can be marked as "important" which causes the board to display them at first
• You can set a symbol for each topic
• You have the opportunity to prohibit posts to a topic
• You can add as many answers as you like to polls
• It is possible to create "single-choice"- and "multi-choice"-polls
• You can create events in the calendar and in forums as well. In the forums there is the additional option to discuss the event
• You can enable announcements for an event so that the registered members can announce to it.
• Boardsolution offers the opportunity to edit one topic and open, close, move or delete as many topics at once as you like
• Moderators and administrators can lock topics so that just moderators and administrators can edit this topic again
• The current topics can be displayed on the startpage and in every forum which contains just forums

Posts

• The posts can be - if activated - formated with BBCode
• The BBCode can be completely configured and extended in the config-file
• This garanties high flexibility and security (because the displayed post will be controlled by the board)
• Smileys can be used to express emotions
• BBCode and Smileys can be deactivated in every post
• You can attach files to posts
• You can delete and move as many posts at once as you like
• If you answer a topic the last few posts of this topic will be displayed and you have the opportunity to quote these posts via AJAX
• The IP-address will be saved for each post

WYSIWYG BBCode-editor

• You can use a WYSIWYG (What you see is what you get) editor in form of a Java-applet to format your posts
• This is available as third mode besides "Simple" and "Advanced"
• You can switch the mode via AJAX while you write your message
• The editor does not just support the basic formatting like bold, underlined, fontfamily, .. but you can also insert images, lists, code-areas, quotes and much more
• Smiley-codes will be replaced directly while you type with the corresponding image
• Additionally to the "formatted-view" there is also a sourcecode-view in which you can edit the message like you are used to from the two other modes, that means in BBCode-syntax
• You can also add more tags to the editor which may be inserted "via click" into the text. For example the tag to insert a link to a topic is already available
• But it is also possible to disable the editor completly in the adminarea and of course everybody can choose if she/he wants to use the editor or not

Unread Topics

• Unread topics can be saved by cookies or sessions
• Topics can be manually marked as read / unread
• All unread topics can be listed

Search

• Board entries can be searched
• The result can be displayed as entries or topics
• The result can filtered by different members
• You can search for topics or entries created by a choosen member
• You can search in different boards
• You can search within a topic

Other modules

• A memberlist which contains all members. You can also search for members there
• A linklist to build an internal link-database
• An enourmous statistic which show all board activities
• The place in the board where currenty active users are located, can be displayed

User-Groups

• The board comes with an integrated group-management which you can manage in detail
• You can create new user-groups
• You can grant rights for each usergroup
• You can choose a color for each group

Profile

• Registered member have a profile where a lot of settings can be set
• You can create finite-dimensional profile settings and choose between different field types to determine how the new field should be used
• A member can choose between many settings to use it individually.
• A member can subscribe to certain boards or topics to receive an email when new topics or entries have been created
• The username and password can be changed
• Create signatures which are shown below your entries
• Avatars can be created

Private Messages

• Members can send messages to other members if they are allowed to do so
• Files can be attached to PMs(Private Messages)
• On answering an PM you can see the history of the last send and received pm of the user. Additionaly, you can quote using the ajax-technology

Using Boardsolution externally

• You can display information of the board externally(e.g. on your homepage) Following information can be gained and displayed:
  • Currently active users
  • Current topics
  • Unread topics and PMs(if logged in)
  • appointments from the calendar
  • General statistics
